KCSU review:
FRANCINE - 28 Plastic Blue
Versions of Endings Without You
Dude, this album is sweet. Francine hails from Boston and is the
brainchild of Poundcake songwriter, Clayton Sobule. This is their
second release in three years (the band's debut, 40 On a Full Day, was
released in 2000) since the band's start. Although, don't expect ultra
fuzzed out guitar, like much of Poundcake's songs, these tunes are full
of soft guitars accompanied with alike vocals. This record is full of
great somber pop songs with the right amount of instrumental guitar
parts, and moody soft male vocals to match. There are some uppity
tracks, but the more down-tempo ones are nicer. This rekkid is sure to
be one of the year's best (I know it's early, but I'm hopeful).
